Chapter 6

What do you think happened to Abraham? Why do you think he sent a letter from Hungary in Yiddish telling Vladek and Mandelbaum that everything was okay and that they should come to Hungary?

  1. I think Abraham eventually got to Hungary and he got taken away and that's why vladek didn't want to talk about it much. since he went to the concentration camp its not very likely that he made it through.

  2. I think that Abraham actually arrived in Hungary and everything was nice and safe for a while but in the end the Germans still got him. He sent Vladek a letter so he can come and join him to live with him in Hungary.-----Cris

  3. I think that Abraham was captured by the Nazis and was killed. He wrote the letter in Yiddish so the Poles wouldn't understand what they were saying

  4. I agree with Cris. I think Abraham really got to Hungary and was safe for a while, and that Vladek just got there at a bad time. I think Abraham ends up at Auschwitz like Vladek and Anja, too. My other theory is that Abraham was forced to write the letter by the Germans because they caught him right away and they had him write it so they could get more Jews to Auschwitz.

  7. I think he died later on, he wrote the letter the first few days probably. I think it was in Yiddish so that people couldn't find out he was hiding there.

  8. I think that Abraham got there before, the people were taken out to the concentration camps. Vladek got there right around the time people were taken.

  9. I think that Abraham went to the concentration camps like Vladek and Anja did. I think that he sent the letter saying everything was okay because it probably was okay and then the Nazi's came in and put everyone in the camps.

  10. I agree with amira that he wrote in Yiddish so that people couldn't find out he where he was hiding and and so that they would not worry about him. I think that Abraham made it through thinking all was good but then the nazis saw him hiding and then captured him and killed him.

  12. I think Abraham was caught in Hungary and taken to a concentration camp. He probably wrote the letter before he was caught and everything was okay in Hungary. If you look back in the book Vladek said that the Nazis invaded Hungary. I think Abraham wrote it in Yiddish so no one would find out where he was out where he was at.

  14. I think Abraham went to hungary. But then was taken away to the camps were he had to work or get killed. I don't think that he sent them a letter, i think it was a trick. I think the people who were sending the Jewish to Hungary were tricking them. I think they made that letter and found someone to write Yiddesh. They knew to write it in Yiddesh because they heard them speaking it at the table before Abraham agreed to go to Hungary. So then they gave to letter to Abrahams family and then Vladek found it and saw it was Yiddesh and thought this is real because the people who are sending me to Hungary don't know how to speak it. So they went. ......Or they could of made Abraham write the letter like Sydney said. I just think that they tricked them so they can go to the camps.

  15. He wrote in Yiddish so that his tracks would be covered. And i believe abraham got taken away as soon as he got to hungary. I think he was forced to write the letter by the germans...

  16. I think Abraham never arrived in Hungary and was ambushed by the Gestapo like Vladek, Anja, and Mandelbaum. I think the "smuggler" was working undercover for the Nazis. I think the letter was forged perhaps by a German who knew Yiddish.
